Why?

This is pretty much exactly how I feel at the moment.

I wish I could not pay attention and live in a bubble of not knowing or caring what is going on anywhere else in the world.  Is it useful to be hyperaware of all of the suffering that is going on in the world, all of the random acts of terror, all of the people fighting over the most idiotic reasons?  Probably not.

Is there anyway to feel other than filled with an impotent rage and sense of helplessness as you watch this sort of thing?  Those 24 hour news stations that revel in the burning wreckage of an aircraft, the dead bodies of children, the next tsunami/earthquake/nuclear disaster.  They suck you in, and they spit you out.  How can you keep feeling something, without feeling numb?

Are you pleased with the world you are living in?  Am I pleased with the world I am living in?  What can we do to make it better?  What can we do to be better people?  What can we do to stop people from hurting each other?

There are breathtakingly beautiful moments that disappear like a dream…juxtaposed with the bitter realization that there really is no justice… I still wonder how much it’s worth it.

constantBut if you’re here, you gotta try.

I have to take a deep breath and focus on what I can do.
